Things To Know Before Buying A Holland Lop Bunny

Holland lops are the smallest of the lop-eared rabbits. Due to their wonderful temperament and very curious nature, they are relatively easily trained.

Their miniature size makes them look like a rabbit that remains a baby forever – this makes them an attractive pet choice for potential owners.

Holland lops are fun to watch and work with, but they are not for everyone. They tend to live from 7 to 10 years – this means that they are a commitment.

They also like to chew on things, so make sure to provide them with plenty of chew toys to stop them from biting your furniture and personal belongings.

If you are a first-time bunny owner, you will need a cage for your pet to have a place for itself.

The cage should be large enough for the rabbit to allow it to stand up on its hind legs without hitting the head and have enough space for a litter box and a resting spot.

You can keep your rabbit caged outside if you prefer, just remember that it will need shelter from the weather, extreme temperatures, and predators.

Rabbits should never be kept in a cage all the time!

They need daily exercise to stay happy and healthy – make sure to provide them with a place to run around, exercise, forage, and rest.

Remember that you should never leave them unsupervised as these escape artists are great at digging and burrowing.

If you decide to keep your pet inside, you will need a litter box, hay rack, food bowl, water bowl/bottle, and resting mat, among other things.

Rabbits are common pets; still, make sure you have established contact with a vet who will take care of your Holland lop.

These docile, calm, and playful animals require a lot of hands-on care.

Try not to handle a Holland lop bunny too much after you brought it home though – once a day for 5-10 minutes should be fine for the first couple of days.

Give the animal time to adapt and get used to its new surroundings; this breed has very sensitive ears, so avoid making too much noise around your rabbit.

Remember that you will need to trim your pet’s nails once every 6 weeks, brush it once or twice a week, and handle it with care and love.

You should always buy rabbits from reputable breeders and keep in mind that good breeders spend a lot on nutrition and care of the animal – this will add to the longevity of your animal but also the price.

As with any other purchase, before buying a Holland lop rabbit, make sure to do a lot of research and not buy from the first rabbitry you visit.
